Over the past few years, the increase in environmental pollution has put the earth at high risk. Pollution has become a major global issue nowadays as it affects one’s health and the environment. The major cause of pollution is harmful substances present in our environment. These harmful substances are known as pollutants.
Earth is a place where we live and it’s dear to us but unfortunately we humans are treating it badly and harming it. As a result, we are facing many problems day by day. However, here are the five ways through which we can prevent harming our motherland and control pollution:
1) Control on vehicles
Public vehicles play a major role in pollution. The smoke from automobiles is harmful. This smoke affects one’s eyes, nose, ears, lungs, in short, the whole body. These fumes are so harmful that they diffuse in the atmosphere and also affect the ozone layer which results in global warming.

2) Use of LED lights
Switch off the lights when not in use. The usage of LED (light-emitting diode) lights is more beneficial than fluorescent lights. These lights produce less carbon in the environment and as a result, there are fewer chances of global warming and other harmful effects contributing to air pollution.

3) Recycling of waste
The waste consists of mostly used plastic bags, glass, paper, wood. These items should be
disposed of at places marked by civil authority. These pollutants have to be cleared to avoid a great deal of pollution. Interestingly these pollutants can be re-cycled which can help boost our economic system.

4) Afforestation and Reforestation
Nearly 30% of the Earth’s surface comprises forests. Deforestation is the cutting of trees and other vegetation thus resulting in climatic change. Soil erosion, flooding, destruction of crops, and an increase in greenhouse gases are the major resultants of deforestation. As a remedial measure, we should immediately start reforestation in the deforested areas. Also, afforestation should be applied in areas with no history of plants and trees. At the state level, illegal cutting of trees should strictly be monitored.

5) Control on CFCs
Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are the major cause of the depleting ozone layer. This results in the melting of glaciers thus raising the sea levels. Unscheduled heavy rainfalls, floods, hurricanes, urban floodings are a few examples that occur due to the melting of the glaciers. We can minimize the process of melting glaciers by avoiding the consumption of gases that are dangerous to the global environment. By minimizing the use of vehicles and maintaining the appliances containing CFCs, we can make a positive contribution to lowering global warming hence saving our glaciers.
